911 Memorial

Steele Indian School Park

Phoenix Arizona

September 11, 2002

Picture of Flag Design

Americans do not like feeling vulnerable. We detest having our comfort disrupted in any way. We want to be challenged on our own terms. We give freely of our time, our money and ourselves. We are taught the golden rule. We like to enjoy life, hold on to our lifestyles and spread a little fun around when we can.

These photographs are of a memorial held in Steele Indian School Park, Phoenix. Each flag of the United States represented a murder victim from the September 11, 2001 massacres in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. Each flag represents a person, a mother, a father, a sister, a brother, a son, a daughter, and a friend. I hope my photographs can capture a small piece of the emotion this memorial inspired.
